The harvest season started at the same time as last year, with an important quantity of organic tomatoes. Figures collected by the PTAB show that California processing tomato deliveries are increasing, albeit slowing down, with a peak foreseen within a few weeks.
For week six (ending August 8th) PTAB is estimating 677,445 metric tonnes (t) (746,755 short tons) were delivered to the factories. Week seven (ending August 15th) is estimated to be 797,038 t (878,584 short tons) which would bring the year-to-date total to an estimated 3,961,581 t (3,593,886 short tons).
The 2026 California Organic processing tomato deliveries for the week five (ending August 1st) were 33,221 t (36,620 short tons).
If the weekly projections come true, the projected quantities on August 8 would represent approximately 39.9% of the California processors’ target (9 million t) and would be 6.17% below the average quantities delivered on the same date last year.
