The harvest season started at the same time as last year, with an important quantity of organic tomatoes. Figures collected by the PTAB show that California processing tomato deliveries are gradually increasing, albeit slowing down, with a peak foreseen within a few weeks.
For week five (ending August 1st) PTAB is estimating 698,856 metric tonnes (t) (770,357 short tons) were delivered to the factories. Week six (ending August 8th) is estimated to be 740,797 t (816,589 short tons) which would bring the year-to-date total to an estimated 2,866,053 t (3,159,283 short tons).
The 2026 California Organic processing tomato deliveries for the week four (ending July 25th) were 64,357 t (70,942 short tons).
If the weekly projections come true, the projected quantities on August 1 would represent approximately 31.8% of the California processors’ target (9 million t) and would be 0.11% above the average quantities delivered on the same date last year.
