For the third week in a row, 2022 California processing tomato deliveries begin to consistently and significantly exceed the 800,000 mT per week threshold.
According to the figures collected by PTAB regarding the 2022 California processing tomato harvest, 847,314 metric tonnes (mT) (934,004 short tons (sT)) were delivered to the factories for week eleven (ending September 17th). Week twelve (ending September 24th) is estimated to be 865,269 mT (953,796 sT) which would bring the year-to-date total to an estimated 8,097,334 mT (8,925,783 sT).
For actual tons delivered through week ten (6,385 million mT), California is tracking below (-16%) the five year average (7.606 million mT). Data collected by PTAB show that YTD solids amount to 5.36 compared to 5.31 for the same time period in the 2021 season or 0.05 higher. There were 273,901 loads delivered as of September 3, 2022, or 21,029 less than in 2021 for same time period.
