According to the figures collected by PTAB, the 2022 California processing tomato deliveries are steadily increasing. For week five (ending August 6th) PTAB is estimating 746,158 metric tonnes (mT) (822,498 short tons (sT)) were delivered to the factories. Week six (ending August 13th) is estimated to be 787,264 mT (867,810 sT) which would bring the year-to-date total to an estimated 3,249,298 mT (3,581,738 sT).
For actual tons delivered (1,715 million mT) through week four, California is tracking below (-24%) the five year average (1,440,099 mT).
The 2022 California Organic processing tomato deliveries for the week four (ending July 30th) were 77,985 mT (85,972 sT). The total tons YTD for week four is 311,422 mT (343,284 sT), or 18% of the actual total delivered quantities. Provisional total is 14% lower than in 2021 on the same date and 13% higher than the average quantity processed during past three seasons at this time.
If the weekly projections come true, the projected quantities on August 13 would represent approximately 31% of the California processors' target. (10.6 million mT).
