According to the figures collected by PTAB, the 2022 California processing tomato deliveries are increasing again after the slight decline recorded in week six. For week eight (ending August 27th) PTAB is estimating 796,295 metric tonnes (mT) (877,765 short tons (sT)) were delivered to the factories. Week nine (ending September 3rd) is estimated to be 821,762 mT (905,837 sT) which would bring the year-to-date total to an estimated 5,562,019 mT (6,131,076 sT).
For actual tons delivered through week seven (3.943 million mT), California is tracking below (-20.5%) the five year average (4.963 mT). Data collected by PTAB show that YTD solids amount to 5.46 compared to 5.33 for the same time period in the 2021 season, or 0.13 higher. There were 167,867 loads delivered as of August 20, 2022, or 22,488 less than 2021 for same time period.
