  • In 2022, Mutti Group sales amounted to 563 million Euros, up 16% on 2021. For the first time, exports exceeded the 50% threshold.
  • Indian scientists have developed an automated plant disease detection system. It has been tested for a variety of tomato leaf diseases and achieves 94.9% accuracy.

  • TomatoEurope regrets that difficulties persist in the relationship with their customers. Its members are committed to apply the recommendation from the EU and fully collaborate with the EFSA.

  • EU carbon prices jumped again above 90 Euro/mT, due to higher gas prices as well as investors taking large net short positions and a few other factors.
  • In the USA, the company DelGrosso Foods Inc., producer of pasta sauce, is opening a new food processing plant in Pennsylvania, that will double its production capacity and allow for production of new food products.
  • France is increasingly dependent on neighboring states, as consumption increases and domestic production only covers about 10%.

  • The “Passata de Tomate” Pomi was nominated in May for the Specialty Food Assocation (SFA) Sofiä Awards in the US. Pomi also won an award for its ”Pomi Packaging Restyling” project at the Touchpoint Awards Identity event in Milan in April.
  • French, Italian and Spanish cooperatives met at the European Parliament early June to ask the EU for a radical change in the packaging and plant protection proposals.
