- Indian scientists have developed an automated plant disease detection system. It has been tested for a variety of tomato leaf diseases and achieves 94.9% accuracy.

- The “Passata de Tomate” Pomi was nominated in May for the Specialty Food Assocation (SFA) Sofiä Awards in the US. Pomi also won an award for its ”Pomi Packaging Restyling” project at the Touchpoint Awards Identity event in Milan in April.
- French, Italian and Spanish cooperatives met at the European Parliament early June to ask the EU for a radical change in the packaging and plant protection proposals.
