• A team of researchers from Japan found a method to cultivate Euglena gracilis in tomato juice. This edible microalgae offers high nutritional and high functional content and could help reduce hunger in the world.
• The EU agreed to ban 'climate neutral' claims by 2026, unless the products can demonstrate 'excellent environmental performance'.

• The University of Florida developed a new tomato variety, which is compact and can therefore be mechanically harvested.
• The Turkish company Tat Gida sold 49.04% of its shares to Memisoglu Tarim Ürünleri Ticaret Limited Company.

• Mutti expands its reach with the launch of a subsidiary branch in the UK, the 6^th in foreign markets.

• The Italian Start Up TomaPaint is part of the RACE (Rapid Acceleration of Climate Entrepreneurship) pilot project. As the case study shows, the company has the capacity to replace petrochemicals in the food canning industry.

• In Chile, Carozzi kicked off the season with a growers' meeting with over 170 people from its Agrozzi plant. This meeting was part of Carozzi's "Grow Together" program, a component of the company's sustainable development strategy.
• Marco Sartori was nominated as the new president of Consorzio Casalasco.
• 2024 was called "The Year of the Tomato" by the research firm Technomic. A great occasion for Tomato Wellness and celebrity chef Ellie Krieger to collaborate on a cookbook.
• According to Euromonitor, the global ketchup market should grow by 2 to 3 % in the coming years.

• Hansin developed a strategic commercial representation partnership with ASI Scambi Industriali, to focus on Italy, Spain and Portugal.
• California processing intentions for 2024 are down 10% from the August 2023 forecast.

• The Dutch company Goudsmit Magnetics developed a new pipe magnet separator with a low installation height, a compact design and easy to clean.
• Spanish researchers conducted an observational analysis, which concluded that long term tomato consumption can decrease the risk of hypertension.

• AMITOM welcomed the Association of Traditional Bulgarian Preserved Foods (ATBPF) as its newest member, during the General Assembly in Rome.

• Kagome Co., Ltd, acquires majority stake in Ingomar Packing Company, the world's 4^th largest primary tomato processing company, which becomes a consolidated subsidiary.
• The company Aptar Closures now offers fully recyclable flow control dispensing solutions suitable for food and beverage applications.
• The Israeli Aran Group acquires a majority stake in IBA Germany, thereby enhancing their presence in Europe.
