CFT: Giubileo²: The First Adaptive-Control Extractor

02/11/2026

PROMOTIONAL FEATURE
CFT S.p.A
Italy,
Africa

Giubileo is a cold extraction and/or hot refining unit designed for fruit, with or without stones, and tomatoes, with a capacity of up to 120 tonnes per hour. It is a long-established CFT technology, proven and recognized worldwide.

With Giubileo², CFT introduces a patented evolution of this technology, moving from fixed mechanical adjustment to automatic, adaptive control. Its operation is managed by a dedicated application on MENTIS, the computer installed on all CFT machines, which processes operating data in real time. Blade inclination and rotor speed are adjusted automatically and continuously based on deviations and other operating variables, without stopping the machine or interrupting production.

From Fixed Adjustment to Adaptive Control

Traditionally, blade inclination is adjusted mechanically and remains fixed during operation. With Giubileo², both blade inclination and rotor speed are adjusted automatically and continuously.

Until now, changing blade inclination required operators to:

  • Stop the machine.
  • Wait for it to cool down.
  • Manually adjust the blade position.
  • Restart the system and resume production.

With Giubileo², the process changes completely: the system automatically adjusts the machine’s operating parameters, eliminating the need for machine downtime and manual mechanical adjustments.

How It Works: Measure and Adapt

The system operates through two coordinated steps managed by an application on MENTIS.

  1. Measure. The system continuously monitors incoming flow rate, waste weight and process temperatures. When available, the algorithm can also use laboratory data on the finished product’s Bostwick consistency as an additional parameter to optimize machine performance.
  2. Adapt. The control algorithm adjusts blade inclination and rotor speed according to actual product conditions, aiming to achieve the best possible extraction yield while maintaining the desired product quality. Through the HMI panel, operators can set the targets the algorithm must achieve.

The result is a more flexible line that is easier to manage and can respond quickly to changes in flow rate, balancing extraction yield with the desired characteristics of the finished product.

What to Expect

At high production volumes, even a seemingly small improvement can make a significant difference. With Giubileo², extraction yield can increase by up to 2.0%: +0.6–1.0% for tomatoes and +1–2% for fruit, based on business case estimates. On a daily basis, this translates into a significant amount of additional product recovered, directly improving the plant’s economic efficiency.

In addition to higher yields, Giubileo² offers further benefits:

  • Reduced heating, resulting in less thermal stress on the product.
  • Lower energy consumption: at lower flow rates, the same yield can be achieved at a lower rotor speed.
  • Controlled product quality and consistency: when laboratory data on the final Bostwick consistency are available, the system can use them to optimize the process.

The actual improvement achievable depends on the raw material, process conditions and plant configuration.

Hygiene Designed Down to the Last Detail

The Giubileo upgrade goes beyond machine control to address hygienic design as well.

The new configuration also offers a fully hygienic design option, including a frame designed to facilitate cleaning, rotary spray balls for effective sanitation (also with automatic valves and hot water), hygienic fasteners and mirror-polished product-contact surfaces.
