The harvest is now entering its final weeks and quantities delivered to the plants are declining in line with processing patterns of previous years.

According to the figures collected by PTAB regarding the 2022 California processing tomato harvest, 683,074 metric tonnes (mT) (752,960 short tons (sT)) were delivered to the factories for week thirteen (ending September 24th). Week fourteen (ending October 8) is estimated to be 549,853 mT (606,109 sT) which would bring the year-to-date total to an estimated 8,992,799 mT (9,912,864 sT).
For actual tons delivered through week twelve (7.76 million mT), California is tracking below (-15%) the five year average (9.15 million mT). Data collected by PTAB show that YTD solids amount to 5.32 compared to 5.28 for the same time period in the 2021 season or 0.04 higher. There were 334,602 loads delivered as of September 24, 2022, or 24,275 less than in 2021 for same time period.

There was no deliveries of Organic processing tomato during the week twelve (ending September 24) so that the total tons YTD remains unchanged at 460,153 mT (507,232 sT), which is now 5.9% of the actual total delivered quantities.

If the weekly projections come true, the projected quantities on October 8 would represent approximately 94% of the revised California processors' target (9.525 million mT, or 10.5 million sT).
