Casalasco: awards season
By a stand at the New York fair, the Casalasco brand confirms its strength in the overseas market
Pomì, a brand of Italian tomato producer Casalasco was at the 67th edition of the Summer Fancy Food taking place until June 27th at the Javits Center in New York, the largest agri-food trade event in the United States with the novelties and the best of the food & beverage.

On the occasion of the fair, Pomì Usa presented the new "Pomì Tomato Passata in a Plant Based Box", a velvety, versatile tomato puree and the first in the category in a sustainable package because it is mainly composed of renewable materials that derive from sugar cane. An innovation that has been awarded the New Product Award winner by the Sofi Specialty Food Association.
In the United States, Pomì is marketed and distributed exclusively by the homonymous company Pomi Usa Inc., created in 2009 and 100% controlled by Casalasco. Today the brand, with its range dedicated to the US market, is present in nearly 20,000 points of sale, particularly in the Tri-state area of New York City (New York, New Jersey and Connecticut), in Florida, Carolina del of the South in addition to California.
Italy: Altroconsumo crowns De Rica's passata
After receiving awards for its packaging and brand identity (see our related articles below), Casalasco Società Agricola SpA had its De Rica brand passata awarded the title of "Best Tomato Puree" by Altroconsumo in early June.

De Rica sauce in 700g bottles ranked first, winning the top award for the quality of its raw material, laboratory results, total absence of pesticides and good sugar content. The taste test carried out by experts was also excellent.
For performing its analyses, Altroconsumo uses independent laboratories with proven experience. The data from the various tests are assessed according to rigorous criteria. Overall quality is expressed as a score out of one hundred, and products are always ranked in order of quality. Taste tests carried out by experts account for 40% of the overall assessment, as do laboratory analyses that measure tomato quality, salt and pesticide content, impurities, presence of mold and weight accuracy. Finally, the label and packaging count for 10% of the overall score.
