The ANICAV has stated its satisfaction regarding the signing on 15 April 2018 of a framework agreement set up to assist in managing the harvest season in the South Central region.
The agreement carries over the contractual scheme of 2017, both on a regulatory level and on an economic level, with an average reference price of EUR 87 /mT for round tomatoes and EUR 97 /mT for oblong tomatoes.
"The different parties have demonstrated their sense of responsibility,” pointed out Antonio Ferraioli, the President of the ANICAV, “by finally managing, after long negotiations to set aside their demands in order to reach an agreement that is favorable to the development of the industry and likely to promote the process for setting up an Interbranch Organization for the South Central region."
He continued by stating that "a big priority has been given to the issue of tomato quality, which will be the focus of an experimental evaluation project of the quality characteristics of raw materials. The agreement also includes a commitment from the different stake-holders to the implementation of joint programs aimed at enhancing the value of peeled tomatoes and promoting their consumption, as they are an added-value product that is typical of our companies, recognized around the world as a symbol of Made-in-Italy manufacturing. »
