Angelo Rossi passed away in Parma on January 22, aged 98.

He was the founder of one of the world-renowned tomato processing machinery company Ing. A. Rossi. Since 1951, Rossi has pioneered machinery for the global food processing industry.

After graduating from Politecnico di Milano, he established Ing Rossi e Catelli with Camillo Catelli, and spent some time in California, exploring the levels of progress reached within the commodity processing sector. According to Gazetta di Parma: “Rossi wasn’t only the inventor and creator of engines and industrial plants, but his company also became a school for a number of engineers.

The industry has lost a person of great standing. Tomato News wants to express its sincere condolences to all his family and colleagues, and assure them of its thoughts in these difficult times.
