Harvest conditions for all main season crops have been exceptional; only squash has disappointed. On 2 April, Cedenco general manager Carla McCulloch said it had been one of the better seasons for its sweetcorn and tomatoes: “We slowed down a little over the weekend because of the rain, but we are on top of the corn crop harvest and there’s only five or six days left of our tomato harvest. That bout of rain on Friday has not caused any undue effect.

McCulloch said Cedenco was about 90 percent through the tomato harvest: “We are on target for our tonnage for the year. Processing has gone extremely well and kept up with the harvest.”
