CLFP Staff Bids Farewell to Retiring President & CEO, Rob Neenan
On August 31, 2022, Rob Neenan will be retiring after 17 years of service to the California League of Food Producers. Rob has had a long and distinguished career in the food and agriculture industry. Prior to coming to CLFP, Rob was with United Fresh Produce Association in Washington, D.C. He also worked for the California Grape and Tree Fruit League (now California Fresh Fruit Association), and the USDA.
Rob has been a constant representative of and tireless advocate for the interests of the food processing industry. He has spent countless hours during his tenure at CLFP in meetings, workshops, public hearings, and other venues representing the industry. He advocated for the industry on water quality issues and waste water discharge requirements, including CV-SALTS. He also worked closely with the universities and community colleges in California to help bring qualified workers to the food processing industry.
No one could have predicted the changes brought about by COVID-19 and the ongoing political turmoil in the last couple of years. Many food companies faced daunting challenges and uncertain futures. Rob took the initiative and single handedly secured over USD 4 million dollars worth of various masks and hand sanitizer. He also stayed abreast of the ever-changing COVID-19 regulatory landscape and kept CLFP members informed. Through it all, Rob’s leadership and efforts helped the industry adapt and continue to provide healthy and affordable food for consumers across the nation.
It's difficult for staff to say goodbye to someone who has become a regular part of our life. Thank you, Rob, for everything you have done for CLFP and the food processing industry.
We're fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with you, and the lessons you've given us will be remembered for a long time. We have always been encouraged by your bright perspective and kind demeanor.
