The harvest season started a few days earlier than in previous years, with small quantities of organic tomatoes. Figures collected by the PTAB show that California processing tomato deliveries continue to plateau, still at a level above the 5-year average to date.

For week seven (ending August 17th) PTAB is estimating 941,915 metric tonnes (t) (1,038,284 short tons) were delivered to the factories. Week eight (ending August 24th) is estimated to be 956,971 t (1,054,880 short tons), which would bring the year-to-date total to an estimated 5,145,140 t (5,671,546 short tons).

The 2024 California Organic processing tomato deliveries for the week six (ending August 10th) were 21,405 t (23,595 short tons).

If the weekly projections come true, the projected quantities on August 24th would represent approximately 49% of the California processors' target (10.43 million t) and would be 19.4% above the average quantities delivered on the same date over past five years.
