The harvest season started a few days earlier than in previous years, with small quantities of organic tomatoes. Figures collected by the PTAB show that California processing tomato deliveries are now plateauing at a level above the 5-year average to date.

For week six (ending August 10th) PTAB is estimating 912,938 metric tonnes (t) (1,006,342 short tons) were delivered to the factories. Week seven (ending August 17th) is estimated to be 919,189 t (1,013,232 short tons), which would bring the year-to-date total to an estimated 4,179,373 t (4,606,970 short tons).

The 2024 California Organic processing tomato deliveries for the week four (ending August 3rd) were 42,032 t (46,332 short tons).

If the weekly projections come true, the projected quantities on August 17th would represent approximately 40% of the California processors' target (10.43 million t) and would be 21.7% above the average quantities delivered on the same date over past five years.
