The harvest season started a few days earlier than in previous years, with small quantities of organic tomatoes. Figures collected by the PTAB show that California processing tomato deliveries are beginning to plateau, although they remain above the level of the 5-year average to date.

For week four (ending August 3rd) PTAB is estimating 922,801 metric tonnes (t) (1,017,214 short tons) were delivered to the factories. Week five (ending August 10th) is estimated to be 951,906 t (1,049,297 short tons), which would bring the year-to-date total to an estimated 2,358,779 t (2,600,109 short tons).

The 2024 California Organic processing tomato deliveries for the week three (ending July 27th) were 50,319 t (55,467 short tons).

If the weekly projections come true, the projected quantities on August 10th would represent approximately 32% of the California processors' target (10.43 million t) and would be 27.8% above the average quantities delivered on the same date over past five years.
