Quantities continue to slow down and are now close to the August revised NASS estimate (9.525 million metric tonnes or 10.5 million short tons).

According to the figures collected by PTAB regarding the 2022 California processing tomato harvest, 362,260 metric tonnes (mT) (399,323 short tons (sT)) were delivered to the factories for week fifteen (ending October 15). Week sixteen (ending October 22) is estimated to be 218,686 mT (241,060 sT) which would bring the year-to-date total to an estimated 9,509,255 mT (10,482,159 sT).
For actual tons delivered through week fourteen (8.93 million mT), California is tracking below (-11%) the five year average (9.99 million mT), and about 395,000 mT behind the 2021 crop at this same time. Data collected by PTAB show that YTD solids amount to 5.27 compared to 5.25 for the same time period in the 2021 season or 0.02 higher. There were 390,019 loads delivered as of October 15, 2022, or 20,770 less than in 2021 for same time period.

There was no deliveries of Organic processing tomato during the week fourteen (ending October 8) so that the total tons YTD remains unchanged at 460,153 mT (507,232 sT), which is now 5.1% of the actual total delivered quantities.

If the weekly projections come true, the projected quantities on October 22 would represent approximately 99.8% of the revised estimate (9.525 million mT, or 10.5 million sT).
