Agreement between the two Italian interprofessional organisations
A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the OI of the industrial tomato of Northern Italy and the OI of the tomato from the industry of the Central South basin in order to better manage the supply chain policies and promote, in a coordinated manner, the production and valorisation of Italian industrial tomatoes.- plan shared strategic actions aimed at improving the efficiency, integration and enhancement of the entire supply chain;
- become interlocutors at all the competent central institutions in order to implement shared agricultural and industrial policies in support of the Italian industrial tomato sector;
- define the methods of exchange of significant data relating to the processing season in the relevant areas of competence (this information, in compliance with the privacy regulations, will be transmitted in aggregate form and will be communicated to the associates of the respective IOs and will be used for processing of national sector data to be communicated to external subjects);
- prepare shared actions of external institutional communication of the data, in particular to the international representative bodies (OEIT, AMITOM, WPTC);
- promote actions aimed at the growth and development of the industrial tomato supply chain through projects for the enhancement and promotion of Italian industrial tomatoes and their derivatives.
"On the mandate of the respective executive committees – commented presidents Rabboni and Vaccaro – we signed the agreement that formally establishes the national coordination of tomato interprofessions in order to better manage the policies of the most important Italian processed fruit and vegetable sector in terms of turnover relative to the quantities produced. We will start from the fundamental assumption that in the statutory aims of our organizations there are the themes of product enhancement, improvement of knowledge and transparency of production and the market of industrial tomato and its derivatives and better coordination of the methods of entry of the product transformed on the market ".
