The harvest season started at the same time as last year, with an important quantity of organic tomatoes. Figures collected by the PTAB show that California processing tomato deliveries are now beginning to peak.
For week eight (ending August 22th) PTAB is estimating 824,407 metric tonnes (t) (908,753 short tons) were delivered to the factories. Week nine (ending August 29th) is estimated to be 835,806 t (921,318 short tons) which would bring the year-to-date total to an estimated 5,239,054 t (5,775,069 short tons).
The 2026 California Organic processing tomato deliveries for the week seven (ending August 15th) were 27,161 t (29,940 short tons).
If the weekly projections come true, the projected quantities on August 29 would represent approximately 58.2% of the California processors’ target (9 million t) and would be 9.14% below the average quantities delivered on the same date last year, and 1.49% below the average quantities delivered in the last 5 years.
