The harvest season started at the same time as last year, with an important quantity of organic tomatoes. Figures collected by the PTAB show that California processing tomato deliveries are increasing, albeit slowing down, with a peak foreseen within a few weeks.
For week seven (ending August 15th) PTAB is estimating 786,560 metric tonnes (t) (867,034 short tons) were delivered to the factories. Week eight (ending August 22nd) is estimated to be 846,431 t (933,030 short tons) which would bring the year-to-date total to an estimated 4,425,632 t (4,878,424 short tons).

The 2026 California Organic processing tomato deliveries for the week six (ending August 8th) were 19,628 t (21,636 short tons).

If the weekly projections come true, the projected quantities on August 22 would represent approximately 49.2% of the California processors’ target (9 million t) and would be 8.25% below the average quantities delivered on the same date last year, and 0.47% below the average quantities delivered in the last 5 years.
