Obituary: Kebede Gashaw

It is with great sadness that we inform you that Kebede Daniel Gashaw passed away peacefully on August 25, 2024, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

A native Ethiopian, Kebede initially went to the USA as a student, but could not return to Ethiopia due to changes in the political situation. He devoted all his career to the agrobusiness in California and notably spent 18 years at the Morning Star Packing Company. During this period, he became very active in the global tomato processing industry, travelling intensively and chairing the WPTC Commission on Exchange of Information for many years. In 2009, he founded Ethamco, LLC in Ethiopia, and after leaving Morning Star in 2011, he devoted his time to developping this agricultural activity in his homeland.  

Kebede will be remembered by everyone who met and worked with him as an extremely kind and knowledgable man who will be sorely missed.
