Giorgio Bossi was born in Chiavenna, in northern Lombardy, in 1945. After graduating from high school, he enrolled at Bocconi University in Milan, where he earned a degree in Economics and Business.

In 1970, he began his professional career as an official at AIIPA (Italian Association of Food Industry Manufacturers). In 1980, he was promoted to manager and, in subsequent years, served as Deputy Director of the Association and Head of the Brussels Office.

During his long career at AIIPA, he focused primarily on the canned vegetables sector, particularly tomato products, fruit preserves in syrup, vegetable preserves, fruit jams, and fruit juices. Representing AIIPA member industries operating in these sectors, he participated in the work of the main European and international industry associations, including OEIT (now TomatoEurope), OEITFL (Fruit and Vegetable Preserves), AIJN (Fruit Juices), and AMITOM (International Mediterranean Association of Processed Tomatoes).

He also attended numerous meetings of the Advisory Committee on Processed Fruit and Vegetables of the European Union Commission on Agriculture.

Regarding the processing tomato sector, he participated annually in meetings organized first by the Emilia-Romagna Region and subsequently by the Ministry of Agriculture, aimed at negotiating the Interprofessional Agreement for processing tomatoes. In 1997, he ceased his activity at AIIPA and was subsequently appointed Head of ALIMPRESA, a company providing services to companies belonging to the Association.

He definitively ended his professional career in 2005, retiring to live in the countryside with his wife, on the family farm located in the municipality of Modigliana, in Romagna, on the foothills of the Apennines, in the province of Forlì-Cesena. He later moved to an apartment in the town of Modigliana.
