The harvest season started a few days earlier than in previous years, with small quantities of organic tomatoes. As the 2024 season draws to a close, PTAB figures show that California processing tomato deliveries are reaching the end, with the year-to-date total now under the five-year average to date.

For week sixteen (ending October 19th) PTAB is estimating 167,653 metric tonnes (t) (184,806 short tons) were delivered to the factories. Week seventeen (ending October 26th) is estimated to be 18,807 t (20,731 short tons), which would bring the year-to-date total to an estimated 10,004,084 t (11,027,615 short tons).

If the weekly projections come true, the projected quantities on October 26th would represent approximately 100.1% of the newly revised California processors' target (9.98 million t) and would be 1.6% below the average quantities delivered on the same date over past five years.
