The harvest season started a few days earlier than in previous years, with small quantities of organic tomatoes. As the 2024 season draws to a close, PTAB figures show that California processing tomato deliveries continue their decline, with the year-to-date total now just under the five-year average to date.

For week fifteen (ending October 12th) PTAB is estimating 231,797 metric tonnes (t) (255,513 short tons) were delivered to the factories. Week sixteen (ending October 19th) is estimated to be 224,277 t (247,223 short tons), which would bring the year-to-date total to an estimated 9,947,808 t (10,965,581 short tons).

If the weekly projections come true, the projected quantities on October 19th would represent approximately 99.7% of the newly revised California processors' target (9.98 million t) and would be 0.4% below the average quantities delivered on the same date over past five years.
