The harvest season started a few days earlier than in previous years, with small quantities of organic tomatoes. The total duration of the campaign was 119 days, in line with the average of the last 20 years.

The PTAB released the last figures for the 2024 season in California. As of October 2nd, the official number is 9,999,505 tons (11,022,568 short tons). The 2024 figure is 13.5% less than last year and 1.7% less than the average of the last 5 years.

Overall this season, the YTD solids was 5.26, compared to 5.17 for the same time period in the 2023 season, or 0.09 higher.
 

 
The total organic production this year was 347.738 tons. The percentage of organic production, compared to the overall production, was 3.48, which is the lowest over the last 10 years.

 
The first 10 counties in California represent 90% of the total production. With a total of 5.04 million tons, Fresno, Yolo and Kings account for more than 50% of this year’s production.
