PTAB estimates for week 33 (ending August 18th) are 1,156,894 short tons (sT) (1,049,419 metric tonnes (mT)) to be delivered. This would be the fourth week of over 1,000,000 tons harvested. Another 1,159,559 sT (1,051,836 mT) are estimated to be harvested the week ending August 25th. If this holds, the 2018 total tonnes harvested would reach 6,442,436 sT (5,843,934 mT) and will continue to be ahead (9%) of the 2017 crop harvest for the same time period.

The harvest started one month ago. The quantities processed at the end of week 33 (August 18th) represent 44% of the 2018 harvest target; if they are confirmed, the quantities expected on August 25 would represent 54% of the quantities planned for this year.

The 2018 California organic processing tomato deliveries amount now at 334,714 sT (303,619 mT), 13% higher than those of 2017 and 18% higher than those of the previous five years at the same date.
