California 2019: Crop situation as of 14 Sept., projection to 21 Sept.

Almost 80% of the season to be achieved

PTAB estimates that 1,001,700 short tons (sT) (908,642 metric tonnes (mT)) were delivered during the eleventh week of harvest (ending September 14th). Provisional total (8,126,867 sT, or 7,371,881 mT) is still 17% lower than the average quantity processed during past three seasons at this time (9,613 million sT). 
Another 1,010,722 sT (916,826 mT) are estimated to be delivered the week 38 (ending September 21st). If achieved, it will make six weeks of over 1,000,000 sT harvested. If this holds, the provisional total is expected to reach 9,137,589 sT, (or 8,288,707 mT).

The 2019 California Organic processing tomato deliveries has decreased again with 20,115 sT (18,246 mT) harvested for week ending September 7, 2019. This brings the total harvested up to 324,166 sT (294,051 mT). As shown in the chart below, the year to date organic harvest is the lowest since 2013.
According to the figures available, the current harvest path is 1.352 million sT (1.228 million mT) behind the average of the quantities harvested at the same date (end of week 38) in the past three years. Quantities being harvested represent almost 80% of the revised official target of the season (11.5 million sT or 10.432 million mT); however, significant adjustments regarding California production have been made in the latest WPTC forecast, which reduce the expected quantities to 11 million sT (about 10 million mT). Initial objective for California crop was (12.1 million sT, or 10.976 million mT).
