The Tomato Foundation is delighted to announce that Dr. Luca Sandei, Director of the Fruit and Vegetables Area at SSICA, the Italian Experimental Station for the Food Preservation Industry in Parma, has accepted the role of President.

Luca Sandei takes over from Gwen Young, who has led the Foundation since 2014. Gwen's deep knowledge of food industry processes and label-based communications and her experience in applied food science, accumulated during her many years with respected Japanese food company Kagome, brought a wealth of practical insights that informed the Foundation's research objectives.

As a research-driven, non-profit, non-governmental organisation, the Tomato Foundation aims to investigate health properties of tomato that consumers can understand as beneficial towards their own personal health goals.

Luca Sandei has worked with the Foundation for many years and most recently, as the scientific director for the Foundation's tomato product sample study.

The Tomato Foundation wishes to express its gratitude to Gwen Young for her inspiration and her professional leadership. Thank you, Gwen and welcome onboard, Luca. The Foundation looks forward to an exciting programme of new research and investigation with our academic and industrial partners.
