13th World Congress, 15th International Symposium: the new website is up!

In the words of the organizers of the next World Processing Tomato Congress, which welcome visitors to the newly launched website for the Congress: "We are happy to invite the tomato world to the 13th World Tomato Congress. The biennial event, which is by now established in the calendar of many people in the tomato processing and associated industries, will be held for the first time in its history on a cruise ship. Over the four days cruise around the Greek Islands and Ephesus, the participants will have the opportunity to attend many interesting topics related to the tomato industry, production and consumption, current market trends, technological developments and how they relate and shape the future of our industry.
Parallel to the main event we are happy to host the 15th ISHS Symposium on the processing tomato where the most recent research in all branches of horticultural science will be presented.
Additionally, there will be a post congress tour which will give delegates the opportunity to visit Greek tomato fields and factories. This optional tour is organized in a way that combines visits to major archaeological sites along with tomato facilities."

Since mid-August, the Internet site dedicated to the 13th World Processing Tomato Congress can be accessed. The World Congress and the 15th International Symposium that will occur in parallel will be held from 11 to 15 June 2018 on a cruise ship – the Celestyal Olympia – which will spend five days navigating the Greek and Turkish waters of the Aegean Sea. All of the scientific sessions and presentations will be held on board, between Kusadasi and Mykonos, Santorini and Piraeus…

All the important information about the Congress program, the cruise itinerary, the daily schedule, and registration instructions and costs are now available on the website www.worldtomatocongress.com. All details regarding the location of the various presentations and talks, accommodation options (different cabins, prices, equipment, services, etc.) as well as a lot of practical information on the city of Athens, the climate, the history, the traditions of Greece and the required paperwork for entering Greek territory can also be found on the site. 

In the second part, dedicated to the ISHS Symposium, the website provides details of the procedure to follow for researchers wishing to submit scientific papers, as well as the topics being discussed, allocated into three sections (adaptability and resilience in crop production, the smart tomato factory, healthy products for the next generations). A lot more information of importance is available – regarding the deadlines for submitting research abstracts and posters, possible subsidy modalities, the composition of the Scientific Committee, etc. 

In the intervening months, the website will provide all of the practical information required for participation and will keep you informed of all details regarding the program and the topics covered during the Congress and the Symposium, as well as the speakers who have been invited to present and share the most recent information regarding our industry.
