Canned Tomatoes Prices, Exports from Italy, Spain, USA, Greece and Portugal, Last update March 19, 2026
Modelled on what has been presented for many years in the monthly articles devoted to export and import statistics (quantities and values) of tomato paste, the Tomato News website provides information relating to the value of products exported by the main countries operating on the canned tomato sector (HS codes 20021010: Peeled tomatoes, whole or in pieces, prepared or preserved otherwise than by vinegar or acetic acid; HS 20021090: Unpeeled tomatoes, whole or in pieces, prepared or preserved otherwise than by vinegar or acetic acid; HS codes 20021011: Peeled tomatoes, whole or in pieces, prepared or preserved otherwise than by vinegar or acetic acid, in immediate packings of a net content of more than 1 kg, and HS codes 20021019: Peeled tomatoes, whole or in pieces, prepared or preserved otherwise than by vinegar or acetic acid, in immediate packings weighing less than or equal to 1 kg).
For each of the five countries that play a significant role in international trade (Italy, Spain, USA, Greece and Portugal), Tomato News presents the average monthly unit values of exports (in USD/t) that are available for the past eighteen complete month for each category segment (customs codes of 8 digits or more), representative of the foreign trade operations of these countries.

Over the last five marketing years, these five countries have accounted for nearly 91% of the global trade of canned tomatoes, but their share of total global trade has decreased from around 93% in 2014/2015 to 89% in 2024/2025
This information is sourced from the trade statistics provided by the various national customs services of the countries concerned (all of which are regularly audited for reliability by information-collecting services at a worldwide level), as well as from other official or professional sources.
