At just over USD 97 /mT, the average price has increased by 21% compared to 2021
The clarifications in terms of quantities and raw material prices made at the June 3 harvest status review have helped refine the estimate of overall average prices for processing tomatoes from the 2022 crop.
The values indicated are weighted "edge-of-field" averages, expressed in USD (April 2022 value), provided merely as an indication for each of the countries concerned. They cannot account for all specific cases.
Globally, the price of tomatoes delivered to processors in 2022 will be about 21% higher than in 2021 and 25% higher than the average for the 2019-2021 period. The available data, accounting for slightly more than 33 million mT, or about 83% of the scheduled quantities, leads to an overall average value of about USD 97 per metric tonne, a historically high level, about USD 17 /mT higher than the overall value recorded in 2021 and nearly USD 20 higher than the average of the last three seasons.
Some complementary data
The value of the worldwide 2022 crop represents a minimum of USD 3.7 billion (EUR 3.4 billion), up 24% compared to the estimated average value (USD 3.0 billion) of the previous three seasons.

The average global value of one tonne of processing tomato exceeds USD 97 /mT in 2022. The previous record was set in 2014, at around USD 84 /mT.
