U.S. Processed Tomato Stocks-on-Hand Report for December 1, 2021

Total inventories of U.S. processed tomato products were approximately 7.56 million metric tonnes (mT) (8.335 million short tons (sT)), stated on a raw product equivalent basis, as of December 1, 2021, according to a report released today by the California League of Food Producers. Inventory is down 10.6% from the prior year level. Apparent disappearance of tomato stocks has decreased 11.1%, totaling approximately 5.8 million mT (6.388 million sT) during the six-month period of June 1, 2021 to December 1, 2021, as compared to the prior reporting period. However, it is worth noting that the December 1, 2021 movement volume is consistent with the five-year average for that time period.
 
Listed below are the 2021-2022 Bulk Tomato Paste and Bulk Tomato “Paste for Sale” pack and inventory estimates as of December 1, 2021 for U.S. Tomato Processors. The 2021-2022 U.S. Processed Tomato Supply and Movement reported is based on an estimated 99% of the industry reported data for bulk tomato paste. Representation below is assuming 100% reporting as well as actual paste as reported. All numbers are rounded to the nearest 1,000 lbs. for the purposes of this report. 
Total bulk tomato paste stocks, including inventory held for remanufacture, were estimated to total approximately 4.72 million mT (5.2 million sT), on a raw product “paid-for tons” equivalent basis, as of December 1, 2021.

The U.S. bulk tomato paste-for-sale inventory on December 1, 2021 was approximately 3.18 million mT (3.5 million sT), on a raw product “paid-for tons” equivalent basis.
