Spain: Tomalia plans 35% increase of its turnover
According to a recent report published by the company, the Spanish cooperative Tomalia, based in Santa Amalia and specializing in the processing of tomatoes into paste, diced products, canned tomatoes and sauces, plans to increase its turnover by more than 35% for the 2016-2017 financial year, to EUR 28 million.

In its annual report, Tomalia states that previous fiscal ending 30 June 2016 resulted in a turnover of EUR 20.67 million, and profits of EUR 83 100. Any comparison with previous results is made difficult by alterations in the terms of the marketing year, which were decided by shareholders in 2015, but account should be taken of the fact that the 2014/2015 turnover was estimated at more than EUR 23 million.
This progression has been made possible by an increase in the processing capacity of the factory (EUR 7 million invested for an extra 40 000 tonnes of raw materials) and a notable increase in planted surfaces (+475 hectares last year), which allowed the industry to take processed volumes to more than 190 000 tonnes.
