The campaign started last week (w/s 3 July) in Andalucía and right now all 4 existing factories are working and most of them already at full capacity. Quality and color are good and the yields are the usual ones for the early tomato in the area. It is too soon to evaluate the possible impact of the extreme heat wave of June, but growers don’t expect important losses. The crop looks good and no other special incidences are reported.
Planted area this year in Andalucía is about 8,800 ha, +6% compared with 2016, and the forecasted production is about 900,000 tonnes.
