On 3 November 2017, the regional press of Emilia-Romagna announced that Copador has definitively been bought up by Mutti of Basilicanova (Pr) through its specially-created Pomodoro 43044 srl subsidiary, headed by Simona Dall'Asta, financial director of Mutti.
This puts an end to the auction of the Collecchio Tomato Consortium, decided by the Court of Parma to investigate the possibility of any better offer compared to what was already put on the table by Mutti in April.
The leading operator of the Italian tomato sector is expected to close the 2017 financial year on a growing balance sheet, in terms of income and production. For the group led by Francesco Mutti, 2016 saw the arrival in its capital (25%) of the Belgian fund Verlinvest, a private investment fund ready to invest in the long term, a preliminary step towards a probable launch of the Mutti Company on the stock market, a development that could occur by 2019 or 2020.
The company, whose revenue has grown in ten years from a few tens of millions of euros to EUR 270 million in 2016, continues to grow. "2017 has been a positive year and we continue to grow: on a like-for-like basis, the increase in revenue will be about +8 or + 10%," confirmed Mr. Mutti.
