Forget the little black dress—Paris Fashion Week just got a bold splash of red!

Ketchup giant Heinz decided to shake up the world of high fashion by commissioning a stunning, bright red haute couture dress… inspired entirely by their famous tomato condiment.

The “ketchup couture” gown, created by French designer Lora Sonney, was unveiled on October 1st by content creator Styleto. The dress doesn’t just borrow the color; Sonney used innovative materials, including silicone, to perfectly mimic the texture and drip of real ketchup.

Why Ketchup on the Runway?

According to Besma Baghdadli, Marketing Director at Kraft Heinz, the stunt was a way to “celebrate its iconic DNA in a new light.”

“We wanted to challenge the conventions of luxury and pop culture by creating a haute couture dress,” she explained. The goal was to take an object found in millions of homes and transform it into a product associated with a Parisian fashion event, helping to open up the sector to the general public.

Designer Lora Sonney was admittedly surprised by the project, but excited to use her creativity in a new way. For Heinz, this isn’t their first playful French collaboration; last year, they teamed up with the luxury Parisian grocer Fauchon to create a sweet, ketchup-flavored macaron called the Tomacaron for Valentine’s Day!

The future of the silicone-slick dress is currently uncertain, but Heinz says they plan to keep the bold creation alive. Move over, Chanel—the next must-have accessory might just be a bottle of Fancy Ketchup!
