The Spanish press announced in early January that the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development, Population and the Territory has released funds to the tune of EUR 4.186 million as part of agro-industrial incentive measures intended to help finance the development of sixteen companies located in Extremadura.

La Junta de Extremadura has confirmed its commitment to consolidating the food industry sector, improving its latest calls for tender for grant applicants in order to attract more companies and generate more business activity.

In this regard, it is worth highlighting that nearly EUR 3 million has been earmarked for the Monliz company (deep-frozen fruit and vegetables), specializing in canned products and vegetable preparations, which was the first to set up on the Badajoz logistics platform.

Other beneficiaries of the scheme include tomato processing industries such as Pronat and Alsat and several animal feed factories. The corresponding investments include both the improvement and the installation of processing equipment.

All the investments requested are financed by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) as part of a contribution to the development of processing and marketing in the agricultural products sector.
