Egypt: Balkan Food Industries receives golden license for new factory
With many years of experience in tomato paste production, using the new technological lines of world-renowned companies, Balkan Agricultural LTD produces the highest quality tomato paste.
In compliance with environmental protection standards, Balkan Agricultural produces tomato products free of residual amounts of pesticides and fertilizers. Through constant monitoring of fresh tomato agricultural production as well as processing, the company ensures excellent and competitive production of tomato paste. By growing its own tomato production in the field from certified seedlings, quality is guaranteed from the source. Each step, from transplanting to processing in the factory, is carefully managed to produce a final and best quality tomato paste. Thanks to state-of-the-art technology and a daily processing capacity of 750 tons, the own grown tomatoes are processed into a rich and natural paste, without preservatives or other additives.
In order to expand this production, a project to build a new factory in Egypt has been submitted. The Egyptian Cabinet has approved a draft resolution granting Balkan Food Industries Company a gold license (a comprehensive approval on the set up, operation and management of a project) to establish and operate a new factory dedicated to the production of concentrates, tomato paste and various vegetables and fruits.

According to Nidal Shaban, scientific advisor for Balkan Foods, the site will be equipped with CFT-1500 evaporators with an annual capacity of 350,000-400,000 tons for a production of approximately 70,000 of tomato paste and other fruit purees and concentrates per year.
Target markets include the European Union, Africa and the Middle East.
The expected opening date is Q4 2025. But the company is already planning future developments on the second phase of the project in 2026, which will consist of cultivating and operating its own fields at 50% of the required capacity.
Finally, it is important to note that the plant is managed and operated by an Egyptian workforce, strengthening local expertise and allowing the integration of cutting-edge production technologies. This initiative will not only strengthen the skills of the workforce, but will also contribute to the adoption of modern industrial methods in Egypt.
