The harvest season started at the same time as last year, with an important quantity of organic tomatoes. Figures collected by the PTAB show that California processing tomato deliveries are now plateauing.
For week ten (ending September 5th) PTAB is estimating 858,923 metric tonnes (t) (946,801 short tons) were delivered to the factories. Week eleven (ending September 12th) is estimated to be 808,630 t (891,362 short tons) which would bring the year-to-date total to an estimated 6,887,889 t (7,592,598 short tons).
The 2026 California Organic processing tomato deliveries for the week nine (ending August 29th) were 23,920 t (26,367 short tons).
If the weekly projections come true, the projected quantities on September 12 would represent approximately 76.5% of the California processors’ target (9 million t) and would be 9.2% below the average quantities delivered on the same date last year, and 2.2% below the average quantities delivered in the last 5 years.
