California: Start of the harvest

Harvest has started in California with 28,711 short tons (sT) (26,000 metric tonnes (mT)) delivered during week (27) ending 8 July, of which 6,339 sT (5,750 mT) were Organic.
For the week (28) ending 15 July, a total of 326,000 sT (296,000 mT) is expected as more factories start and ramp up production, which could bring the total harvested at 354,700 sT (322,000 mT). This is 696,077 less short tons (631,000 mT) harvested when compared to the same time frame in 2016.
According to PTAB Field Department, a total of 644,000 sT (584,000 mT) is expected to be delivered during the week (29) ending 22 July, for a total delivered expected to reach 998,700 sT (906,000 mT).
The weather for the upcoming week (July 17 through July 23rd) for the major growing regions is expected to continue to be hotter than average for this time of year.
