Armenia: vegetables processing rises 75% in 2017

According to the data released by the Armenian National Statistical Service, canned food production output totalled 14,629.4 metric tonnes (mT) in Armenia in January-September 2017, a 32.6% increase from the previous year.
The statistics show that a total of 7,313.7 mT of canned vegetables were produced in the accounting period – a 75.1% rise compared to 4,177.7 mT produced in January-September 2016.
 
According to the statistics, a total of 2,247.4 mT of canned tomato paste was produced in the reporting period, which is 12% higher than the past year’s volumes. Some 328.4 mT of ketchup were produced within the first nine months of 2017 against 348.4 mT produced in the January-September period of 2016.
Canned fruit production amounted to 3,927.8 mT, recording a 17.8% rise against the same period in 2016. Meantime, canned fish production totalled 206.9 mT (76.2% growth), canned crab – 16.5 mT (down 81.4%) and canned meat – 319.2 mT (27.5% decline).
