AINPO, the Italian Producers’ Organization specialized in the processing tomato sector and based in Parma, celebrates the fiftieth anniversary of its establishment which took place in the ducal city on January 24, 1975.

Fifty years that have led it to the levels of leadership that everyone recognizes it, in terms of territorial representation, sales volumes, turnover and quality of the productions made by the members situated throughout northern Italy and many of which are located in the province of Parma and Piacenza.

The Organization intends to implement several initiatives in the coming months to appropriately celebrate this important anniversary. Just as many projects and investments for the future have been carry out over the last two years, starting with the implementation of the “AINPO XMS 4.1” portal.

“We are starting to reap the results of the digitalization and data management process in a single portal, designed in 2023 and progressively implemented over the following two years, with the aim of being in operation by the 2026’s harvest”.

With these words Luigi Sidoli, director of AINPO, describes the objectives, content and services that the Association has set itself to pursue, develop and provide to its customers, first of all the tomato processing industries, starting on a trial basis during 2025’s harvest and fully operational from 2026.

The “Tomato life cycle” project, recently launched by AINPO, stems from a widespread need to identify agricultural products through the tool of traceability. This project provides, to the processing industry and to the end consumer, every possible detail regarding the processing tomato, a sort of “curriculum vitae” containing the core elements of its history.

The data contained in the “curriculum vitae” are extracted from the “AINPO XMS 4.1” portal, managed in partnership with Inside Information Technology Srl.

The available data concern technical -agronomic details including varietal selection, planning and management of the transplants, cultivation techniques, certifications, application of the integrated production specification and other useful commercial information.

Every delivery, made by Ainpo’s members to the processing industries, will be equipped with a QR code linked to traceability details: from seed purchase to field harvest.

“The goal we set ourselves and which we believe we have achieved”, concludes Luigi Sidoli, “is total transparency, enhance the service and enriched the delivered product with content and data. We are very encouraged by the support received from the main processing industries. These adhesions show that the project can add value and benefit to the entire sector.

The aim is protecting the Italian agro-industrial supply chain and Made in Italy, giving our partners a competitive advantage on the global market in response to the increasing demand of transparency and traceability by end consumers”.
