The USDA 2019 California tomato crop is estimated at 12,100,000 short tons (10,976,000 metric tonnes).

California harvest started last week (week 27, ending 6 July) with first quantities reaching 27,192 short tons (sT), or 24,666 metric tonnes (mT)). Now the 2019 California processing tomato deliveries are expected to start ramping up. For the second week (week 28, ending July 13, 2019) of deliveries, PTAB projects 247,000 sT (224,054 mT). While things are starting to ramp up, volumes are ahead of last year’s deliveries by 12,512 short tons (11,350 mT). It is estimated that another 583,000 sT (528,839 mT) will be harvested by week ending July 20th, which would bring the total up to 857,192 sT (777,559 mT).
