In Argentina, the harvest is in its last steps and will continue for a couple of weeks in Mendoza. The weather remains dry so the mchanical harvest continues. Processing and farm activties are not affected by the quarantine. The total forecast is 460,000 tonnes.

In Australia, harvesting is still underway. A promising season has been adversely affected by 100mm of rain since early March. The Australian estimate had been for a crop of 220,000 tonnes. Our current estimate is closer to 200,000 tonnes; that is a reduction of about 10%.

In Chile, around 95% of the harvest has been achieved to date with yields in line with the forecast of 855,000 tonnes. The weather is still warm with no rain and the raw material have a good colour. The harvest should end around 22 April.

In Brazil, the restrictions for travel and visits makes it difficut to collect reliable information. Local operators are expecting a reduction of about 10% to 15% in acreage and production for this current season due to the closure of the Bunge Alimentos tomato factory (Etti brand) which normally processes tomatoes from about 880 hectares (JBS bought the margarine business of Bunge Alimentos in December 2019, including three factories and is currently trying to sell the tomato plant in Sao Paulo state), and to the internal market problems due the pandemic.
