The final numbers have been published by CLFP. In California, 11,182,979 short tons (sT, or 10,144,079 metric tonnes (mT)) of processed tomatoes were harvested for the 2019 pack year. This is 1,093,326 less sT (991,757 mT) harvested vs 2018 and the second smallest crop in the last ten years. The beginning inventory number for 2020 is estimated to be at its lowest point dating back to 2013.
 
Going hand in hand with the total harvest number, the farm yields fell well below the expectation of 50 plus. Finishing at 47.59 sT per acre (107 mT/ha) was the second lowest yield since 2011. The decrease is the consequence of unfavourable weather conditions that affected the crop.
 

The 2019 California Organic processing tomato deliveries are 392,475 sT (356,014 mT) as of October 5th. The final Organic tonnage number has yet to be released, but expectations remain that it will be the smallest harvest since 2014.
