ISHS has published the Proceedings of the 6th International Symposium on Tomato Diseases: Managing Tomato Diseases in the Face of Globalization and Climate Change
The symposium which was held in Taichung, Taiwan in May 2019, addressed how higher temperatures, heat waves and longer droughts, change in precipitation patterns, more frequent wildfires, and an increase in the number, duration, and intensity of tropical storms foster the development and spread of tomato diseases and alter pest behavior and distribution; it also addressed how best to manage tomato diseases as pest pressure increases, climate changes and globalization increases disease spread, and most notably begomoviruses, emerging Crinivirus, bacterial wilt and bacterial spot, late blight and early blight, and Fusarium wilt.
