Ghana is exploring new investments to increase its returns on agricultural output, by expanding agro-processing capacity.
In early August, construction commenced on a USD 3 million tomato-paste processing plant at Afienya, in the Greater Accra Region – with production scheduled to start by end of the year.

The plant, a joint venture between local private sector player Grand Rise Food Company Ghana and China’s Tianjin Limin Condiment Company, will produce 300 containers of tomato paste per month once at full capacity for both the local and export markets.

In addition, the project will see the construction of an associated plant – funded by Chinese companies Tianjin Yangzhiguang Materials and Hebei Yangzhiguang Materials – dedicated to the production of tins and cartons to package the take from the factory.
